Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage

We are a group of old ladies, aged 65-85 and counting, who swim in the freshwater ponds of Cape Cod collecting trash. We are serious about our mission, but as you can maybe tell by our name, we don't take ourselves too seriously.

Our Mission

By removing submerged trash from ponds, the Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage seek to inspire women over 65 to use their power for the good of the planet and the good of each other.

"Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage’s great service is not just cleaning ponds, but spreading the joy that comes from being involved with nature and working to protect it." - Susan Baur, OLAUG co-founder

In this photo for his Boston Globe article, Stan Grossfeld captured the joy, camaraderie, and sense of accomplishment that OLAUG embodies. Not surprisingly, the photo went viral.

Here's a fun video montage one of our members made that gives a little sampling of what it's like to be an OLAUGer.
